Irvine, California - September 25, 2018: SWARM Engineering has been selected by TERRA, the leading Food and Agriculture Accelerator, into its third cohort kicking off next week at the San Francisco tech campus of program founder RocketSpace. SWARM Engineering was chosen as one of the 16 most innovative startups from across the globe to work alongside industry giants including founding partner Rabobank, as well as AgroFreshBeta San MiguelGraincorp,Griffith FoodsGrupo Azuca de MexicoNestle,OSI and Tate & Lyle.  SWARM Engineering will be focused on optimizing critical aspects of GrainCorp’s supply chain, as part of a broad program of innovation for the international agribusiness.

Founded in 2016, TERRA is a global innovation accelerator fueling groundbreaking transformation in Food & Agriculture in order to advance the well-being of our people and our planet. The program brings together experts, decision-makers, and innovators across the entire value chain - fostering connections that catapult major breakthroughs into scalable solutions by pairing emerging growth companies with established multinationals, in a pilot-driven engagement that leads to tangible results.

“TERRA is a great opportunity to connect with the top agriculture firms in a short space of time to find areas of mutual interest,” said Anthony Howcroft, CEO of SWARM. “It has allowed us to rapidly identify a pilot project with a leading global agribusiness, where we can have a significant positive impact.”

For GrainCorp, this is the second TERRA cohort they have been involved in. “The ability to find and explore new technologies and innovative approaches to our business, in a carefully managed and timeboxed fashion, is a huge benefit,” said Marcus Kennedy, Chief Development Officer of GrainCorp. “We are excited by the potential in SWARM Engineering to continue the evolution of our supply chain process, to deliver additional value for our farmers, buyers, and in helping our employees manage complex scenarios.”

The TERRA team reviewed more than 450 applications from emerging growth companies around the world, shortlisting 160 applicants for only 16 spots. Startups selected represent eight countries. Unlike other accelerators, TERRA does not require equity from selected startups. They must have a product in market/ready to launch and have raised a minimum of seed-funding, better positioning them for productive pilot partnerships with corporate collaborators.  For more information on TERRA, please visit www.terraaccelerator.com
