About us

SWARM is the primary way for organizations to discover, define, and solve challenges. We are changing the way the world thinks about problem-solving, and we call our approach Challenge Engineering. Our focus is to help people solve operational challenges in their agrifood supply chain, for multi-million-dollar savings.

We are a Software-as-a-Service platform using next generation AI to save costs, reduce waste, and deliver environmental benefits.

We utilize a curated market of algorithms to tackle key processes such as labor planning, logistics, allocation (supply/demand), pricing and profitability management. Our solutions do not require any software coding, data science expertise, or knowledge of advanced AI or machine learning.

SWARM is revolutionizing agrifood with AI, helping the millions of people attempting to run businesses with spreadsheets. You can try the SWARM Challenge Modeler for free here: https://community.swarmeng.net

What is Challenge Engineering™?

Challenge Engineering is an approach to solving problems that emphasizes the importance of clearly defining the challenge first, before attempting to solve it. The approach provides a framework that combines several disciplines, including cognitive science, questioning methodologies, and data management, but is simple enough for anyone to use without prior expertise or knowledge of the underlying disciplines.

The approach is repeatable, applicable to any industry, and one of the key benefits is that practitioners get better over time, making rapid problem-solving a core competency of the individual and their organization.

Challenge Engineering has been intentionally created to get the best out of humans and AI working together. The approach encourages users to define problems in a natural, structured way, which simultaneously enables AI to automate the discovery, production, and delivery of matching solutions.

We believe the future will see AI partnering with humans to define challenges and then automatically delivering fully working solutions.

Core values

Our company is based on several key, shared values and beliefs. Here are a few to start the conversation:

  • We celebrate diversity in all its forms, recognizing the strength that it brings

  • Uphold equality as a non-negotiable standard, ensuring fair treatment and opportunities for all

  • See agrifood as critical to the health and welfare of everyone

  • …and understand it is undergoing a vital digital transformation

  • Put our customers’ success at the heart of our thinking

  • To solve a challenge, we believe (as did Einstein) that you need to start by defining the problem

  • We are committed to eco-friendly practices and sustainability, both internally, and in helping our customers achieve this

  • AI can be a force for good

  • Humans & AI make for great partners, as humans are great at defining challenges and AI is fast and accurate in delivering solutions

  • We can’t do everything ourselves; we believe in working together with others to solve critical problems in agrifood

We could keep going! As avid readers, we also manage and build our products following ideas from a few key books such as those by Geoffrey Moore, Clayton Christensen, Patrick Lencioni, and Anthony Howcroft (our own CEO - who wrote Questions: A User’s Guide).
